In 2002 the National Association of Realtors started a Resort Real Estate Committee. The purpose of this committee is to provide the Resort practitioner with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the special attention the resort purchaser requires. These skills include a working knowledge of international tax law, 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges and other related topics. The National Association of Realtors currently has over one million members of which less than 1% are Resort and Second Home Marketing Specialists. I am proud to be one of the Resort Specialists. I recently attended the 2nd Resort and Second Home Marketing Symposium held here on beautiful Cape Cod. My membership as a Resort Practitioner as well as my attendance at the Resort Forums offers numerous benefits to the Seller’s and Buyer’s I represent. Most significant is the 300+ contacts I have made with other Realtors from around the world.
